I have long maintained the best way to learn a new area is to go for a run—and a month in I can say I have not been on the same run twice. Look at the map, find some geographic features , remember a couple key streets and navigate between the two. There is, however, one particular feature of Geneva which though dominates the view, is actually not part of Switzerland. The Saleve Mountains have been my handrail to find my way whenever the opportunity has presented itself to explore a new park or part of town. It was time we had a meeting.

And so it was that I ran to France –part personal dare, part adventure, and a small part exercise. Ashleigh was appalled. “You did what? Did you bring your passport?”
What fun is that? However exciting it is to go for a jog to a new country, the border was largely anti-climatic. There was no “Welcome to France” flashing lights; the only way I could tell was the prices in the store windows started appearing in Euros. Ditto on the return to Switzerland. The only visible part on the return was a sign: Geneva 5k along with the Swiss speed limits.
The only way to improve the adventure will be to take the bus to the border, catch the gondola
